1. Sri Lanka Medical Association awarded “Deshamanya S Ramachandran Award” (Nephrology), for the paper presented on “Towards understanding renal diseases in Sri Lanka: A preliminary community based study from Madawachchiya, North Central Province”
2. The presidential research awards 2001 & 2004 – five awards
3. Sri Lanka Medical Association awarded “Sir Nicholas Attigalle Prize” for the paper presented on “Is dexamethazone effective in severe thrombocytopenia caused by dengue fever? A randomized double blind placebo controlled study.”
4. Recipient of the “Deshamanya S Ramachandran Award (Nephrology)”  awarded by the Sri Lanka Medical Association
5. Sri Lanka Medical Association awarded “E M Wijerama Prize” awarded by the 122nd Annual Scientific Sessions 2009, Sri Lanka Medical Association.
6. Research paper titled “Non medical risk factors of low birth weight” was adjudged first in the category of presentation by senior researchers at the Annual Research Sessions Peradeniya in 1998.
7. Research paper titled “Dietetic, socio-demographic, and behavioural risk factors of oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma: A case control study” was adjudged a commendable presentation at the Peradeniya University Research Sessions 2003.
