Under IAEA regular program of Technical Cooperation, University of Peradeniya received assistance to upgrade the  Nuclear Medicine Diagnostic Imaging Facilities under SRL 6032 for 2012- 14 Tc Cycle.  Overall objectives of the projects were to up lift the Nuclear Medicine Imaging and Radionuclide therapy facilities at the Nuclear Medicine Unit, University of Peradeniya by means of improving technology and manpower development. New imaging technology is very useful in patient care especially for those patients with cancer, renal diseases and cardiovascular diseases. These facilities will be used to improve undergraduate and postgraduate clinical nuclear medicine teaching by generating clinical materials and clinical exposure.  This advanced technology opens an avenue to conduct multidisciplinary research activities within the faculty of medicine and also with other faculties in the fields of medical physics, biomedical sciences and software engineering for image analysis.
