A light dry scab is seen over the wound with surrounding erythyma suggestive of an injury sustained 1 to 2 days ago, making the patients statement false.

The site of injury too indicates that the injury is unlikely to be a result of an assault.

                           5 - 7 days           -  Scab begins to fall off

                             > 7 days           -  White dull scar
