occurs at the point of trauma	occurs in a point away to the point of trauma
patterns -transverse, greenstick, comminuted	patterns -spiral, oblique
skin, subcutaneous tissues and muscles are lacerated, contused at the site of fracture	external bruising or abrasions are not found at the site of fracture
if two bones are fractured, both are fractured at the same level	If two bones are fractured, fractures occur at different levels
