  • occurs at the point of trauma
  • occurs in a point away to the point of trauma
  • patterns -transverse, greenstick, comminuted
  • patterns -spiral, oblique
  • skin, subcutaneous tissues and muscles are lacerated, contused at the site of fracture
  • external bruising or abrasions are not found at the site of fracture
  • if two bones are fractured, both are fractured at the same level
  • If two bones are fractured, fractures occur at different levels
