The new e-library extension of the Faculty of Medicine

The new e-library extension of the Faculty of Medicine was declared open by Prof. Thilak Jayalath, Founder Head/e-library and Prof. Vajira Weerasinghe, Former  Dean, Faculty of Medicine in  the presence of Prof. Asiri Abeyagunawardana, Dean, Faculty of Medicine.

This new extension was the result of an untiring group effort lead by the former Head of the e-library, Dr. Yasitha Illangasekera and the e-library staff technical officers Mr. D.B.Ekanayake, Mr.J.P.K Sumanaratne and lab attendant Mr. W.M Rathnayake.

This new facility funded by the AHEAD project, added 93 brand new computers to the fleet of desk top computers available for the use of students and staff for their academic and research activities. With the upcoming network upgrading of the University of Peradeniya, this facility is set to be one of the best e-library facilities available for undergraduate medical students.

The soft opening ceremony also set a valuable example by acknowledging the contributions of all who supported this worthy cause through awarding of certificates of appreciation and inviting the former Dean and the founder Head/e-library to declare open the facility to appreciate their contributions towards the development of Technology Enhanced Learning in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya
