Workshop on Academic Mentoring

A half day “Workshop on Academic Mentoring” was organised by the Medical Education Unit & Student Affairs Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya on 9th September 2019.

Prof Asiri Abeygunawardene, Dean/ Faculty of Medicine, Peradeniya welcomed the participants from Medical, Arts, Allied Health Sciences and Science Faculties, University of Peradeniya as well as the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Wayamba. A discussion on the different mentoring programs in each faculty was followed by case discussions in small groups.

Prof Thilini Rajapaks, Cons Psychiatrist did an extremely useful session on “Communication as an Effective Mentor” using a role play to portray good and poor methods of talking with students.
