A Farewell lunch for the Bhutanese students who completed the MBBS programme and a Welcome lunch for the new Bhutanese students was held on the 7th November 2025, at the Royal Garden Mall, Kandy
The Bhutanese students, who enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Peradeniya on October 14, 2025, to pursue the MBBS degree program, were top-ranked students in the university entrance examinations in Bhutan. They were sent here under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the University of Peradeniya. Dean Faculty of Medicine, Co-ordinaries of Bhutanese student programme Prof. Indu Nanayakkara & Ms. Asha Wijenayake, Senior Assistant Registrar of the Faculty Mrs. Dilini Herath, Chairman of curriculum coordinating committee-Prof. Keerthi Dissanayake and several members of the academic staff participated in the event.
