The Nuclear Medicine Unit, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, the main counterpart institution of IAEA Project SRL6039, welcomed Dr. Peter Knoll, IAEA Technical Officer and expert from Vienna, Austria, from 3-6 August 2026.

The four year SRL6039 project aims to strengthen nuclear medicine services through capacity building, technical assistance, and advanced equipment support. The visit marked the first major activity of the project, with discussions held with university authorities and visits conducted to assess the existing facilities and identify future development needs.

Mr. Samantha Herath, Chief Technical Officer of the Nuclear Medicine Unit, serves as the National Project Counterpart for SRL6039.
