The Department of Microbiology collaborated with the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists to organize a training workshop for Medical Laboratory Technologists on the current CLSI guidelines for Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing (ABST). The workshop which was held on the 9th and 10th of July, aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the theoretical background underlying antibiotic selection for CLSI ABST as well as supervised hands-on practical sessions, with case based in-depth discussions on specific scenarios including troubleshooting in the lab. The workshop was attended by over 30 MLTs from both state and private sector laboratories, and resourced by experienced Microbiologists from all over the country.
