Policy
Human research undertaken at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya must comply with national and international ethical and regulatory practices
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to contribute to safeguarding the dignity, rights, safety and well-being of all actual or potential research partipants, "respect for the dignity of persons"
Regulations
All staff and students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya and any researcher/s intuition/s requesting ethical clearance must have awareness of and adhere to all relevant internal research governance policies / procedures within the University AND any relevant external rules relating to research governance, including where applicable, legislation and statute, e.g. research misconduct, research ethics, conflits of interest, clinical sponsorship of research, regulations around research involving human tissues etc. Research projects already initiated will not be considered for ethical aproval.
Who can apply ?
Any activity, meeting the definition of research and involving human participants, which is conducted by staff or student under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya and affiliated institutions or any researcher/s or institution/s requesting ethical clearance for their research proposals involving human participants, are subjected to review by the Ethics Review Committee.
