The University Department of Surgery provides out patient and inpatient services in the following areas.

1. General Surgery
2. Gastrointestinal Surgery (both upper and lower)
3. Vascular and transplant surgery (renal transplantation both in adults and children)
4. Trauma and emergency surgery
5. Urological surgery
6. Breast and endocrine surgery

The teaching hospital, Peradeniya (800 bedded hospital) provides the facilities for all above clinical services with inward bed strength of 96 for surgical patients.
