Award of Excellence in Health Emergency Management in Sri Lanka -2015
The ceremony to confer an Award of Excellence in Health Emergency Management in Sri Lanka- 2015 was organized by HEDMaTC in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and the World Health Organization. This was held in order to recognize ten most outstanding persons who have made a significant contribution to the management of emergencies/disasters by being actively involved in advocacy, preparedness, response, and materials, and conducted research, to ensure that the Sri Lanka would have the cadre of professionals with the right knowledge, skills and attitudes in health and disasters. The Awards Ceremony was held on 7 December 2015 at 7 PM at Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo. . The presentation of certificates and medals was done by the Chief Guest, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake at the ceremony
The founder director of HEDMaTC, Prof. Sarath Edirisinghe, the director of HEDMaTC, Dr. Dinesh Fernando and a member of the Board of Management of HEDMaTC, Prof. Samath Dharmaratne receiving this prestigious award brought a historic significance to the University of Peradeniya and to the HEDMaTC.
Tenth Training Course in Public Health Emergency & Disaster Management for Health-care Professionals of South East Asia
Tenth Training Course in Public Health Emergency & Disaster Management for Health-care Professionals of South East Asia was successfully conducted by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Training Center (HEDMaTC) Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya from 7 to 11 December 2015 as a residential course at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo with the collaboration of the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and the World Health Organization. A Total of 30 participants underwent training at the workshop. The participants nominated by the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine for the course were senior & middle level medical officers. There were also participants from United Nations organizations, Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, Sarvodaya and from countries in the South East Asia Region.
PHEDMa for the health-care professionals of Bangladesh
A Training Program on Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management for 15 health-care professionals of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Government Republic of Bangladesh was conducted by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Training Centre, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, from 04th – 08th August 2015 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka
Ninth National Training Course in Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management
The Ninth National Training course in Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management was successfully conducted by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Training Center (HEDMaTC) Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya with the collaboration of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine from 20th to 24th July 2015 as a residential course at the National Institute of Cooperative Development (NICD) Training Centre, Polgolla.
The Eighth National Training Course in Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management
The Eighth National Training Course in Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management, organized by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Training Centre (HEDMaTC), Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya with the collaboration of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine was held successfully from 25th to 29th May 2015 at the Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS), Peradeniya
Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management Course Curriculum Development Workshop
The Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management (PHEDMa) Course Curriculum Development Workshop was conducted by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Training Center (HEDMaTC) Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of Health on 23rd and 24th October 2014 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.
A total of 15 participants attended the workshop. The participants included 14 professionals/consultants/resource persons of the 1st to 7th PHEDMa programmes who were mostly heads of the institutions/professionals attached to institutions involved in disaster management/training in disaster management, 01 seventh PHEDMa programme participant who was selected based on her spirited participation and contribution in the respective PHEDMa programme and PHEDMa Course Evaluation and Curriculum Review Workshop.
Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management Course Evaluation and Curriculum Review Workshop
The Public Health Emergency and Disaster Management (PHEDMa) Course Evaluation and Curriculum Review Workshop was conducted by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Training Center (HEDMaTC) Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of Health on 10 October 2014 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.
A total of 24 participants attended the workshop. The participants included 10 professionals/consultants/resource persons of the 1st to 7th PHEDMa programmes who were mostly heads of the institutions/professionals attached to institutions involved in disaster management/training in disaster management, 12 previous PHEDMa programme participants who were selected based on their active participation in completing the survey and on the marks they achieved on the survey through the point scheme developed by HEDMaTC.
