Diagnostic and Consultancy Services
The Consultant Microbiologists attached to the Department of Microbiology offers clinical services to the Teaching Hospital, Peradeniya.
The Department of Microbiology officers the following tests currently - free of charge to state sector hospitals and for a nominal charge to other requests
- Diagnostic bacteriological cultures - blood cultures (manual), urine cultures, sputum cultures, pus cultures, stool cultures, sterile fluid cultures, MRSA colonization detection and AFB direct smears and cultures.
- Testing of minimum inhibitory concentration for selected antimicrobial agents is offered for state sector hospitals free of charge.
- Other tests are offered depending on the availability.
