Prof. Manoji Pathirage, MBBS, MD (Medicine), is Professor in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. She is the Head of the department of Medicine and Family Medicine. An accomplished clinician–academic, his research interests include neurology and neuro-rehabilitation, stroke, tropical and infectious diseases, geriatrics, and rheumatology. She has received multiple national research awards from the Sri Lanka Medical Association for impactful clinical studies and presidential research awards for internationally cited work. Prof. Pathirage has undertaken advanced training in neurology in Australia and contributes actively to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, and professional leadership through national and international medical associations.

Professor Indika Gawarammana, MBBS, MD, PhD, FRCPE, is a Senior Professor in Medicine at the University of Peradeniya and Consultant Physician at Teaching Hospital Peradeniya. Leading the South Asian Clinical Toxicology Research Collaboration (SACTRC), work of his team on pesticide poisoning has saved 140,000 lives through regulatory changes. With over 127 peer-reviewed publications, 4982 citations, and an h-index of 37, he has presented at over 90 international conferences. Gawarammana and his team developed a species-specific antivenom for Sri Lankan snakebites and secured grants, including AUD 750,000 from NHMRC and GBP 6 million from NIHR for poisoning prevention.

Prof. W.A.T.A. Jayalath, MBBS, MD, MRCP (UK), FRCP (London), FCCP (SL), is Professor of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. His clinical and research interests focus on cardiology and nephrology. He has held numerous leadership roles in academia and professional bodies, including national coordinator of the INTERHEART study, Head of the E-Library, President of PMFTA and PeMSAA, and Secretary of the Kandy Society of Medicine. Prof. Jayalath has made significant contributions to medical education, research coordination, and community service.

Prof. Arjuna Medagama, MBBS, MD, MRCP (UK), FRCP (London), FCCP (SL), is Professor in Diabetic Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, and a Consultant Physician at Teaching Hospital Peradeniya. An accomplished clinician–academic, he serves as an MRCP (PACES) examiner for the Royal College of Physicians, UK, and has held key leadership roles in e-learning, library services, research, and infrastructure at university level. His research focuses on diabetes epidemiology in Sri Lanka, cardiovascular disease in diabetes, nutrition and exercise, and complementary medicine. Prof. Medagama is a recipient of multiple national research awards and undergraduate academic gold medals, reflecting sustained excellence in scholarship and medical education.

Prof. Udaya Ralapanawa, MBBS, MD, MRCP (UK), FRCP (London), FRCP (Edin), is Professor in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. An award-winning clinician–academic, he is an MRCP examiner and a national leader in postgraduate and undergraduate medical education. His work spans clinical service, curriculum development, and professional leadership, with numerous academic distinctions and national honors recognizing excellence in medicine and medical education.

Prof. Shamali Abeyagunawardena, MBBS, MD, MRCP (UK), FRCP (London), is Professor in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, and a Consultant Physician at Teaching Hospital Peradeniya. An excellent academic and committed researcher, she combines scholarly rigor with compassionate, patient-centred care. Prof. Abeyagunawardena is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and contributes to advancing clinical medicine through research, mentorship, and high-quality service delivery.

Prof. Chamara Dalugama, MBBS, MD, MRCP, FRCP (Edin/Lond/Glasg), is Professor in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, promoted on merit in 2022. An exceptional clinician–academic, he holds multiple MRCP subspecialty credentials and fellowships from leading UK colleges. Renowned for outstanding teaching, research excellence, and compassionate care, he has received numerous national and international awards, including Best Clinical Teacher and Oxford University Hospitals’ AMR Staff Award. Prof. Dalugama plays major leadership roles in curriculum development, postgraduate examinations, tropical medicine research, and national professional bodies, contributing significantly to medical education and patient care in Sri Lanka.

Prof. Duminda Yasaratne, MBBS, MD, MRCP (UK), is Professor in Respiratory Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, and Consultant Respiratory Physician at Teaching Hospital Peradeniya. With advanced training in Sri Lanka and the UK, his expertise spans tuberculosis, respiratory allergy and asthma, pleural disease, thoracic ultrasound, air pollution, and occupational lung health. He plays a leading role in postgraduate education and national TB programmes, serving on PGIM Boards and Ministry of Health committees. Prof. Yasaratne is an award-winning researcher and an active contributor to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and professional leadership nationally and regionally.

Prof. Rajitha Abeysekera, MBBS, MD, MRCP(UK), MRCP-NEPHORLOGY, MSc-BIOSTATISTICS, FISN , is a Professor in Nephrology and a board certified, Consultant Nephrologist in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He provides his clinical services as an honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the Teaching Hospital Peradeniya. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Education Research and Training in Kidney Disease (CERTKiD) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from the University of Colombo (2013) and was a Nephrology Fellow at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital with Transplant training at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Australia. He also completed a fellowship in critical care nephrology at the Guy’s & St.Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK.
He has wide-ranging research interests, including Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology, Registry development, Acute kidney injury, Critical care nephrology and Adolescent-Adult transition care.

Dr. Ruwanthi Bandara, MBBS, MD, FRCP (Edin), is a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, and a consultant physician with expertise in tropical and internal medicine. She is an active medical educator, MRCP examiner, and journal editor, with numerous publications on infectious diseases, diabetes, and clinical case reports. Her research and clinical work contribute to improved health outcomes and evidence-based practice in Sri Lanka.

Dr. C. L. Dandeniya, MBBS, MD (Medicine), MRCP (UK) , is a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. An exceptional clinician–academic, she is a Consultant Physician recognized for outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate achievement, including distinctions in all subjects at final MBBS and multiple national gold medals. Her work spans clinical medicine, education, and research, with award-winning presentations and national research recognition. Dr. Dandeniya is deeply committed to teaching, mentorship, and evidence-based practice, contributing to high standards of medical education and patient care in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Hansa Sooriyagoda, MBBS, MD, FRCP, BSCI/BSCCT level 2 accreditation in cardiac CT, is a Lecturer in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Teaching Hospital Peradeniya. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Medicine from the University of Colombo. He played a key role in establishing subspecialty cardiology services at Teaching Hospital Peradeniya and was instrumental in initiating adult cardiac catheterization laboratory services at the institution. He holds accreditation in cardiac computed tomography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, with a special interest in advanced cardiac imaging.He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and contributes to clinical training and academic activities. He has a special research interest in preventive cardiology.
