Dr. (Mrs.) Damayanthi Kusum Kumari Nanayakkara, MBBS, MPhil, PhD, FANMB, is a Senior Lecturer and Nuclear Medicine Physician and Head of the Nuclear Medicine Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. She is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in nuclear medicine, with extensive training and fellowships supported by the IAEA across the UK, Asia, Australia, and the USA. Her academic and clinical interests span nuclear cardiology, oncology, paediatric nuclear medicine, and neonatal screening. Dr. Nanayakkara has made outstanding contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate education, research, and regional capacity building, serving as a key resource person and project coordinator for multiple IAEA national and regional initiatives, while playing a vital role in advancing nuclear medicine services in Sri Lanka.
