Kosala Nirmalani Marambe, MBBS, PhD, is a Professor in medical education and Founder Head Department of medical education of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. Obtained MBBS from University of Colombo and PhD in Medical Education from University of Maastricht the Netherlands in 2007, for the thesis titled - Patterns of Student Learning in Medical Education- A Sri Lankan study in a Traditional Curriculum.
She has served the faculty as an academic staff member from 1997 and has organized and conducted many staff development workshops since then on trends in medical /health professions education. She has been a post graduate trainer since 2010, member of the Specialty Board in Medical education at the Post graduate Institute of the University of Colombo. Her research areas of interest include, student learning in different contexts, communication skills teaching and learning, Perceptions on assessments, stakeholder perceptions on training issues.
She has been a speaker and resource person in several national and international conferences. She was the third President of the College of Medical Educationists, Sri Lanka. Has served as the coordinator of the faculty quality assurance unit and been a member of the faculty and University self evaluation report preparation teams since 2019. Currently serves as an external reviewer of the accreditation unit of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
