3rd Annual Inter Medical Faculty Forensic Medicine Debate
The 3rd Annual Inter Medical Faculty Forensic Medicine Debate was held on 15th and 17th December, 2023. The preliminary round was conducted via Zoom, while the semi-final and final rounds were held on-site at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, under the guidance of Prof. Dinesh Fernando. The event was organized by the medical students of the 2019/2020 batch.
Preliminary Round
Eight medical faculties participated for the preliminary round of the 3rd Annual Forensic Medicine Debate on 15th of December 2023 at 4.30 pm via Zoom. The chosen topic for the debate was “This house will legalize the sale of organs for transplantation in Sri Lanka”.
Four medical faculties from the University of Peradeniya, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Ruhuna, and Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka were selected for the semi-final round, held on December 17, 2023, at 9:00 am on-site at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. The topic for the debate was "This house proposes that the withdrawal of treatment by the treating medical team should be legalized in Sri Lanka."
The University of Peradeniya and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, emerged as finalists for the 3rd Annual Forensic Medicine Debate, which took place on December 17, 2023, at 11:00 am on-site at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. The topic under discussion was "This house will accept the use of forensic hypnosis in criminal investigation."
