December
- Prof. Sarathchandra Kodikara attended as the Guest Speaker at the Annual Academic Sessions of Nawalapitiya Clinical Society, held on 20th December at Grand Pavillion Hotel, Nawalapitiya
- The 3rd Annual Inter Medical Faculty Forensic Medicine Debate was held on 15th and 17th December, 2023. The preliminary round was conducted via Zoom, while the semi-final and final rounds were held on-site at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, under the guidance of Prof. Dinesh Fernando. The event was organized by the medical students of the 2019/2020 batch.

- Educational visit by the Advanced Level students of Kandy Girls' High School to the Department of Forensic Medicine on 13th December.
Prof. Dinesh Fernando, Dr. Chathula Wickramasinghe, Dr. Niranjala Kulathunga and Dr. Kasun Bandara Ekanayake (Department of Forensic Medicine), Dr. Jayamini Sri Jayarathna (Department of Anatomy) and Mr. Prabodha De Silva (undergraduate of Faculty of Medicine) presented multiple oral and poster presentations at the at the 22nd Annual Academic Sessions of the College of Forensic Pathologists of Sri Lanka was held on 9th-10th December, 2023 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.
Oral presentation by Mr. Prabodha De Silva on the undergraduate research project titled "Impact of intimate partner violence on academic performances among medical undergraduates in University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka" was awarded the 2nd place in the Best Research Presentations.
Poster presentation by Dr. Kasun Bandara Ekanayake on the case report titled "Methotrexate instead of metolazone: A fatal overdose" was awarded the 3rd place among the Best Poster Presentations.
Prof. Dinesh Fernando and Dr. Chathula Wickramasinghe participated in the CFPSL debate on "Private Practice in Forensic Medicine; Good or bad?" and the latter was awarded the Best Speaker of the debate at the 22nd Annual Academic Sessions of the College of Forensic Pathologists of Sri Lanka.
- The final examination of the 9th batch of the Diploma in Forensic Medicine for Lawyers and Judges, conducted by the Department of Forensic Medicine, was held on 8th December at the Faculty of Medicine premises.
November
- An educational visit by a group of A/L students from R/Bopaththa Maha Vidyalaya, Gatahatta, Eheliyagoda on 03rd November, 2023.
October
- An educational visit by a large group of Grade 10-11 students from Ferguson High School, Ratnapura on 13th October, 2023.
- Mr. MM Amjad of the Department of Forensic Medicine won a gold medal in above 45 age category at the Invitational Universities Badminton Championship 2023 hosted by the University of Colombo, held from 6th to 8th October 2023.
- An educational visit by a group of A/L bio science students from Vidyartha College, Kandy on 06th October, 2023.
September
- Dr. Sarangi Amarakoon presented an abstract titled "Harmonizing tradition and child welfare: The ordination of Buddhist child monks in Sri Lanka" as an oral presentation at iPURSE 2023 international conference held on 21st September, 2023.
- “Medico-legal Issues in the Emergency Department” workshop for Emergency Medicine postgraduate trainees was held at the Department of Forensic Medicine on 14th September, 2023
- Prof. Sarathchandra Kodikara, Prof. Dinesh Fernando, Prof. Amal Vadysinghe & Dr. Chathula Wickramasinghe received the Faculty Research Publication Award for highly rated scientific publications in 2022, awarded at PeMSARC Annual Research Conference on 12th September, 2023.
- Dr. Harshana Daraniyagala and Dr. Sarangi Amarakoon presented abstracts at PeMSARC Annual Research Conference on 12th September, 2023.
- Representatives from Gomel State Medical University, Belarus visited the Department of Forensic Medicine on 1st September, 2023.
August
- An educational visit by a group of A/L Biology students from Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo on 17th August, 2023.
July
- Dr. Kasun Ekanayake presented an abstract titled “Saviour turned killer: Death due to faulty airbag system” as a digital poster at Sri Lanka Medical Association 136th Anniversary International Medical Conference held at BMICH from 25th-28th July, 2023.
- Educational visit by a group of AL Science students from BT/PD/Paddiruppu Madhya Maha Vidyalayam (National School), Kaluwanchikudy on 26th July, 2023.
- Prof. Dinesh Fernando was appointed as a member of the panel to investigate the death of Mr. Dinesh Schaffter whose body exhumed on May 25th and the second autopsy was conducted at the Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya. The final meeting to review the findings to arrive at an opinion on the case was held on 23rd and 24th July, 2023 at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya.

- Observational court visit by the medical students of Group 5CD of 2018/19 batch to the High Court, Kandy with Prof. Sarathchandra Kodikara on 23 rd June, 2023.

- Prof. Kodikara attended a conference for Magistrates and District Judges on 20th May 2023 held at Amaya Lake, Dambulla, organized by Sri Lanka Judges' Institute, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and College of Forensic Pathologists of Sri Lanka.
- Educational visit by a group of students from President’s Science College, Puttalam on 17 th May, 2023.
- Delegates from Kursk State Medical University, Russia visited the department as a part of their visit to the University of Peradeniya, on 03rd of May 2023.

- Sinhala Hindu New Year celebrations at the Department of Forensic Medicine.
- Educational visit to the department by a group of students from St. Joseph’s Balika Vidyalaya, Kegalle on 3rd April, 2023.

- Observational court visit by the medical students of Group 7AB of 2018/19 batch to the High Court, Badulla with Prof. Amal Vadysinghe on 23rd March, 2023.

- Certificate awarding ceremony of the 8th batch of Diploma in Forensic Medicine for Lawyers and Judges was held on 24th February 2023 at the Department.
- The Annual Editorial Board Meeting of the Sri Lanka Journal of Forensic Medicine, Science & Law was held on 23rd February 2023 with physical/online participation of all Editorial Board Members and International Advisory Panel, at the Board Room of the Faculty of Medicine.
- The Peradeniya team emerged winners at the 2nd Annual Inter-Medical Faculty Forensic Debate, which was held on 12 February 2023 at the Faculty of Medicine, Colombo
- Prof. Dinesh Fernando coordinated the Annual KSM Debate titled “Healthcare should not be provided free to all citizens of Sri Lanka” held at the 45th Annual Academic Sessions of the Kandy Society of Medicine 2023, on 11th February, 2023 at the Hotel Grand Kandyan, Kandy.
- Dr. Chathula Wickramasinghe’s poster titled Tailor-made approach to investigate sudden cardiac deaths using virtual autopsy - a case report was awarded “Commendable Research Presentation – Poster Category”, at the 45th Annual Academic Sessions of the Kandy Society of Medicine 2023, held on 9-11 February, 2023 at the Hotel Grand Kandyan, Kandy.

January
- Introductory session on procedures in forensic sciences (diatom testing, histopathological procedures), mortuary, high-risk autopsy facilities, forensic anthropology laboratory and other resources of the department, for the students of clinical appointment was conducted by the Technical Officers in the Department, including Mr. Laxman Gunathilake, Chief Technical Officer, on 31st January, 2023.

- The Department organized a lunch party for Prof. Deepthi Edussuriya as she completed the tenure of the Headship on 02nd January, 2023.
