July
  • The 2nd Annual Academic Sessions of the Ceylon College of Legal Medicine was held on 24-25 July 2026 at Waters Edge, Colombo, with the academic staff and postgraduate trainees contributing in editorial work, abstract reviewing, panel judging and abstract presentations.

  •              

                 

                 



  • The research group 50 of 2021/22 medical undergraduate batch under the supervision of Prof. Amal Vadysinghe, attended and presented their research abstract at the Sri Lanka Medical Association 139th Anniversary International Medical Congress 2026 held in Colombo on 22-25 July 2026, with Dr. Kasun Ekanayake.

  •              



  • Prof. Amal Vadysinghe, Prof. Sarathchandra Kodikara and Prof. Dinesh Fernando attended the knowledge-sharing workshop with Child Witness Institute, South Africa, organized by UNICEF on "Child-friendly Justice and Forensic Medical Examination", conducted on 17-18 July 2026 at the Hotel Tourmaline, Kandy.

  •       



  • Dr. Chathula Wickramasinghe delivered the 2nd session of a guest talk series titled "The Team of Experts Behind Crime Investigation" invited by the Zoologists' Association of the University of Peradeniya on 02 July 2026, at the Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya.

  •              



June
  • The Department of Forensic Medicine successfully conducted the 6th workshop on Medico-legal issues in the Emergency Department for Emergency Medicine Postgraduate trainees on 18th June 2026.

  •              

                 



  • Farewell to Dr. Imesha Bandaranayake, who served as a Temporary Lecturer at the Department of Forensic Medicine.

  •              



May
  • The Forensic Medicine Workshop organized by the Law Students’ Association and the Mooting and Debating Society, Department of Law of the University of Peradeniya, was successfully conducted on 06th May 2026 at the Department of Forensic Medicine.

  • Farewell to Dr. Shanika Ekanayake, who served as a Temporary Lecturer at the Department of Forensic Medicine.

  • Dr. Chathula Wickramasinghe attended as the Chief Guest at FORENCIA’26, the Annual Science Day of Seethadevi Girls’ College, Kandy, on 26th March 2026.

  •              



  • Prof. Kodikara attended as the Guest of Honour at the Science Day 2026 of the Hemamali Girls’ College, Kandy, held on 11th March 2026 at the ICBT Auditorium in Kandy.

  •              



  • Senior Prof. Sarathchandra Kodikara attended as the guest speaker at the ‘Neethiyata Idak’ programme telecasted on Ada Derana on 15th March 2026.

  •       



  • The inauguration ceremony of the 11th batch of the Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Medicine course conducted by the Department of Forensic Medicine was held on 12th March 2026.

  •              

                 

                 



  • Dr. Chathula Wickramasinghe delivered a guest talk titled “When Nature Speaks: The Botanist’s Role in Death Investigations” on 11th March 2026, organized by The Botanical Society, University of Peradeniya.

  •              



  • Annual Debate in Forensic Medicine of the 2022/23 batch of medical undergraduates on ‘This house believes that euthanasia should be legalized in Sri Lanka’ was held on 04th March 2026.

  •

  • Educational visit to the department by a group of Sri Lanka Navy Nursing Officers on 23rd February 2026.

  •              



  • Educational visit to the department by a group of students from St. Anthony's International school, Monaragala, on 20th February 2026.

  •              



  • Prof. Sarathchandra Kodikara attended the launching of the Kurunegala Law Journal, 2025 Volume II, published by the Kurunegala Bar Association, on 03rd February 2026, which featured an article titled "ළමා අපචාර කළමණාකරණය සඳහා සිද්ධි සාකච්ඡාවල භූමිකාව", authored by Prof. Kodikara, Dr. Kasun Bandara Ekanayake and Dr. Chathula Wickramasinghe.

  •       



January
  • The Annual Meeting of the Editorial Board of the Sri Lanka Journal of Forensic Medicine, Science & Law was convened on 29th January at the Department of Forensic Medicine, with members participating both in person and virtually, including international representation from Australia, Denmark, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

  •              



  • A centre-based training programme on firearms and explosives for the trainees of Forensic Medicine Pre-MD (2024 batch) was held on 21st January 2026.

  •              



  • New year celebrations at the Department of Forensic Medicine on 01st January 2026.
